Riviere is an exquisite piece of architecture by a renowned architect, John Richard Flowers, SCDA Architects. In 2021 the award winning architect won the Venice Architecture Prize for his design of The Courtyard at Marina d’Adda. He subsequently worked on projects such as the Vista La Perciazha (VA Waterfront) in Marbella and the Grand Canal in Venice. A Riviere was designed to combine traditional brickwork with modern materials, using cantilever archways to support its stonework. It is one of few buildings from the Venice architecture period that is still standing in full operation, albeit a bit refurbished. The exterior features brickwork around the main entrance, which is surrounded by a decorative paving path and a statue of the Virgin Mary.
John Richard Flowers designed Riviere for his own private use. He included natural light into the interior design by incorporating skylights and glass roofs. Throughout Riviere is an abundance of plant life ranging from fauna and flora to flowering plants. The use of native plants is used in abundance to create a natural feel to the garden’s design. Riviere is also designed with waterfalls, sundials and large terraces that overlook the garden and into the sea.
The beach side of Riviere is finished off by a large stone wall. This is designed to protect the pool from winds and waves and is built from granite. There are also several stone sculptures that bring the entire beach house design together. The spiral staircase and boat launch are other features of Riviere.
